Announcing our new grants application process from 2026
To enable us to reach the most deserving children, we’re updating our grants application process from 2026 onwards.
We’re moving from a rolling application process to three fixed application windows each year. With three opportunities to submit applications, these set windows will provide applicants with a clear timeline for when we’ll accept applications, when the independent review will take place, and when applicants can expect to receive the outcome of their applications.
Our eligibility criteria remain unchanged. The change in process does not change the frequency that theatres and schools can apply, full details of our criteria are outlined on our ‘How to Apply’ UK page and ‘How to Apply’ US page.
If you have already submitted an application that has been accepted in 2025, the process remains the same for submitting invoices and the Evaluation Form as per the communications from the Grants Coordinator.
For applications from 2026:
The theatre works! application windows will open three times per year from January 2026. Applicants will need to submit applications during this time frame for consideration via our independent review panel.

Window 1
Opens: Monday 12 January 2026
Closes: Friday 25 February 2026
Applications made during Window 1 must be requested for performances from 1 April 2026 onwards. Applicants can choose performances up to 12 months ahead of this date. We'll review applications submitted during this period, at the start of March 2026. Application outcomes will be communicated via email by mid-March 2026.
Window 2
Opens: Monday 11 May 2026
Closes: Friday 26 June 2026
Applications made during Window 2 must be requested for performances from 1 August 2026 onwards. Applicants can choose performances up to 12 months ahead of this date. We'll review applications from this period at the start of July 2026. Application outcomes will be communicated via email by mid-July 2026.
Window 3
Opens: Monday 14 September 2026
Closes: Friday 23 October 2026
Applications made during Window 2 must be requested for performances from 1 January 2027 onwards. Applicants can choose performances up to 12 months ahead of this date. We'll review applications from this period at the start of November 2026. Application outcomes will be communicated via email by mid-November 2026.
