Volunteer opportunities

As our charity grows and the potential becomes clearer we need to add to our small but enthusiastic volunteer group with the following part-time, remote-working roles.

With theatres facing increased pressure on costs our charity is providing a real lifeline, but we need to build awareness and connections with the people who are charged with meeting these challenges.

Current Opportunities

Part-time theatre works! Manager

theatre works! is a largely volunteer-based UK and US charity. The charity is just over four years old and has provided grants to over 25,000 children from underserved communities to experience live theatre and related educational experiences. As part of long-term plans for the continued growth and sustainability of the charity the trustees have agreed to seek the services of a part-time manager to progressively assume operational roles presently performed by the two founders of the charity, Sharon Studer and Graham Beckett.

Principle duties will include oversight of a friendly and committed team of eight part-time volunteers and three paid, part-time freelance members. Functions include grants administration, fundraising, education and marketing.

Specific duties will include:

  • Overseeing preparation of social media, quarterly newsletter, educational and fundraising programmes

  • Oversight of grants activity

  • Preparing materials for Trustee meetings three-times a year

  • General admin matters, such as occasional contact with The Charity Commission, insurance matters, etc.

  • Overall management of team.

The founders will be progressively reducing their time commitment, but plan to stay involved, particularly in regard to fundraising.

We are looking for a commitment to three days a week, working remotely, either in the UK or US. This role can also be a job share if preferred.

We also collaborate with prominent theatres in major cities and other leading performing arts centers nationwide.

Time commitment: Flexible. Remote. One half day (4 hours) to one full day per week (8 hours).
