‘Wicked’ extends partnership with theatre works! for a third year, donating £10,000 worth of tickets

We’re thrilled to announce that the Producers of Wicked are continuing their partnership with theatre works! for a third consecutive year, bringing even more young people closer to the magic of live theatre.

Following two hugely successful years of partnership, which have already supported over 1,000 school children through free or subsidised theatre visits, a further £10,000 worth of tickets has been donated by the Producers of Wicked for 2026/27.

These tickets will enable schools, particularly those facing economic and social barriers. to attend the West End production of Wicked as it celebrates its 20th Year in the West End.

Opening doors to theatre

At theatre works!, our mission is simple: to make theatre accessible to every young person, regardless of background. This partnership continues to play a vital role in helping us reach children who might otherwise never experience live performance.

The donated tickets will primarily support students from outside the M25, ensuring that geography and cost are not barriers to participation.

Since launching just five years ago, theatre works! has supported over 33,000 children and young people to attend theatre trips, many for the very first time.

More than a theatre trip

These visits are about more than just seeing a show, they are part of a wider learning journey where schools have the opportunity to join post-show Q&As with the cast and company.

Through the theatre works! Education Hub, schools can access supporting resources designed to extend the impact of each trip beyond the auditorium. From classroom discussions to creative activities, the hub helps teachers connect live performance to learning outcomes and personal development.

One teacher described the impact:

‘The educational and emotional value of the experience was clear. Not only did students enjoy a world-class production, but many also gained new perspectives on social justice, self-expression, and empathy.’

Inspiring future creatives

For many students, this is their first encounter with live theatre, and it can be transformative.

Sharon Studer, Co-founder and Chair of theatre works!, shared:

‘For hundreds of children supported by theatre works!, seeing Wicked has been far more than a memorable day out. It has been a first encounter with live theatre and a chance to discover the imagination, craft and hard work behind a major production.’

Experiences like these don’t just entertain, they spark curiosity and ambition.

Looking ahead

We are incredibly grateful to the Producers of Wicked for their continued generosity and belief in our mission. Together, we are helping to ensure that theatre remains accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for the next generation.
